Screeds we install

• Screed under ceramic and porcelain tiles, marble and stone

How we carry out screeding works

1. Pre-start inspection with the main contractor: base slab levels, cleanliness, services in the floor and agreed finished floor levels.
2. Setting out of levels and falls with rotary laser equipment.
3. Mixing and pumping the screed to the work area where access and pumping arrangements permit, which reduces manual transport of mixed screed.
4. Laying to the specified levels and falls, compacting, and finishing to suit the floor system that follows, avoiding over-trowelling where it would impair adhesion or drying.
5. Forming perimeter details and screed joints to the approved layout, carrying substrate movement joints through the screed, and saw-cutting where specified.
6. Curing and protection as specified, followed by level and surface-regularity checks carried out jointly with the main contractor using the acceptance method in the specification. Moisture acceptance for the next finish is assessed separately.

Acceptance and the floor finish that follows

Surface regularity, level tolerances and test methods follow the project specification. Where BS 8204-1 surface regularity classes (SR1, SR2 or SR3) are specified, acceptance follows the class and the measurement method named in the contract.

Screed strength, curing, moisture, laitance removal, smoothing and primer responsibilities depend on the floor system that follows, and they are set out in our quotation to the project specification.

Frequently asked questions

What screed thickness do you lay?
We lay the thickness shown on the drawings and in the specification. The required thickness depends on the designed screed construction, the substrate, the loading and the services in the floor. We quote the specified build-up and raise any discrepancy through the main contractor before work starts.
